Mishaps and the New Year.

Well earlier today I was disappointed when I broke my hobby knife. Yeah. I knew it was a piece of junk and this just proved it haha. It was actually quite dangerous because not only did I break the knife but the blade broke and sent a sharp shard of metal into the air. Luckily I got away without a cut. Its still usable but probably not as safe or reliable as before. So I'll be getting a new knife in 2011.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. I'll leave you with a little preview of the Zeong Bear Chapter 3.

Zeong Bear Chapter 2

PREVIOUS CHAPTER

I'm making decent progress on certain areas as far as modding goes. I got some nice piping detail on the fuel tanks. It was as easy as stabbing a hole in the sharpie and then inserting some pla tubes.

I did some more Armor Trimming on the forearms too. Still need to clean it up a bit but yo uget the idea.

I also started another little project too. Can you guess what these are going to be?

If you guessed scratch built back pack you are correct. I'm only going to show little bits here and there of the back pack build cause for one I'm not sure if I'll get it done and two, I'd like to make a tutorial from it once the project is done. I got a lot of inspiration and ideas from a blogger named Funakatown who has some great scratch built stuff: FUNAKATOWN. Here's something to give you an idea of what it will look like.

Although it's a bit ambitious for me, I also started working on bettering the articulation in the torso. Hopefully with what I do, it should be able to turn and lean from side to side. Because I'm not afraid to use parts from my other models, I tore the ankle of the 00 Raiser apart and that is what will be used for the motion. Then I cut some strips from the black part so the mounts could fit and the black part could come out for painting and such.

Lastly, I started to look at paints and settled on three. They're pretty simple, plus I have some left over grey paint from the Z2 Zabanya to use too.

Thanks for dropping by!

Zeong Bear Chapter 1

PROLOGUE

I started some of the mods on this guy. Mostly stuff on the Zeong's lower body since I don't have the head of the Bearguy to fit on yet. Still doing a lot of brainstorming and planning as I go along. Also, I have yet to break out the cement yet so everything you're seeing isn't finalized.

I filed down parts of the back edge to add some detail.

I cut out some parts of the skirt to break up the edge. While doing that to the point on the back a part of the plastic cracked and broke. It's no big deal though because I planned on doing pla plate work on the back of the skirt anyway.

For awhile I've been wanting to put some fuel tanks on one of my models but I don't have access to option parts really. It dawned on me recently to just use some old Sharpie markers. This was partly inspired by Jeff Ho Yick Yin's awesome Zeong. I also think I might make some thrusters out of the marker caps, or at least a detail for a backpack.

Lastly, I finally found a great use for some metal beads I ordered from G-System awhile ago. They fit pretty nice in the finger tips and I'm going to place them around its body for some detail too.

I've been featured!

My Zabanya Ver.Z2 was featured on DC23's blog recently. I'm pretty proud of the model and very thankful that others seem to like it too. I have a lot of room to improve and I hope to make my next models even better. Thanks DC and everyone for the input you gave on the MAC forums.

Merry Christmas!

I know that some of my fellow gunpla bloggers have already celebrated their Christmas, due to time zone nonsense. For us in the States Christmas is today. So Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you spent it in good company and maybe got some nice doodads from Santa. Enjoy the holiday everyone!

...It looks like the RX-78 got a bike for Christmas...

GG INFINITE: G-SHOT! Gunpla Photo Contest

I saw that GG is hosting a gunpla photo contest! It sounds pretty cool and is a great opportunity to share your gunpla. There are five categories consisting of 1)Best Gunpla Photo, 2)Best Diorama, 3)Best Customized Gunpla, 4)Best Paint Job and 5)Best Straight Build. And as most contests go, each category will win a prize. To check out the rules and prize info check out the G Shot page: G SHOT. Lastly, I wanted to mention that Don Carlos (DC23), Syd Sked, Derringer and Gundam Guy himself will be the judges for this contest. So here's an opportunity to try and impress some really talented gunpla builders.

I think I may clean up some photos of the Zabanya Ver.Z2 for the Best customized category. Don't really know what my chances are, but it won't hurt to enter.

Delta Plus Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Delta Force

I finished building the Delta Plus today. Now that its done I can honestly say this is one of the coolest models I've got. Not only is this just a cool looking model overall but the pieces are so detailed and intricate. Not to mention this has some really good articulation for a 1/144, at least in my opinion. And yeah this model can transform, but I never really transform any of my models. I usually just display them in "regular mode" but for some people that's a plus. So I thought I'd provide some images of the model before I start the mods. I'm not sure when I'm going to work on this guy since I have some other models I'd like to start modding but I'll get around to it sometime.

Zeong Bear Prologue

Gundam Australia Forums and MAC forums Beargguy Group Build

Here is the start of my Bearguy for the, now duel forum, group build for next years BMKWC. I will be combining the 1/144 BEAR Acguy with the 1/144 Zeong and some other parts from various models as well. Since the BEAR Acguy isn't available in the States yet I just went ahead and ordered the Zeong a few days ago. To my surprise it came about five days earlier than expected so I spent an hour or two today building it. I got to say I really like the 1/144 Zeong. It was fun and easy to build and I thought that it would have worse articulation. Another great thing about it, as far as modding goes, is that it has a lot of what I like to call "dead space" or large areas that lack any detail. There is a ton of flat open surfaces where you could cement on some pla plate or add other parts. In many ways the Zeong is like a blank canvas. I'm really excited about getting my Bearguy and modding these. I've got a lot of ideas and hopefully I'll be able to pull them off. Anyway, here some images of the 1/144 Zeong.

Zabanya Ver.Z2

Epilogue

So here it is. My Cherudim Saga inspired Zabanya which I have named Zabanya Ver.Z2. It was a fun build filled plenty of mistakes... er, I mean "learning opportunities." It still has a lot of visible imperfections but being that this was my first build involving pla mods, getting rid of seems, and waterslide decals I'm very proud of what I accomplished.
